Le 2 mai 2006, il a remporté le concours de la quatrième édition de l’émission de télé réalité Nashville Star. Le 10 juin 2006 il se produisit sur la scène du Grand Ole Opry où il interpréta son single "Drinkin' Me Lonely."
Son premier album sorti le 3 octobre 2006 fut immédiatement classé à la troisième place des charts Billboard de musique country.
Le 7 octobre 2006, Young fit sa seconde apparition au Grand Ole Opry où il interpréta à nouveau "Drinkin' Me Lonely" et son second single "You're Gonna Love Me".
Il fut nommé dans la catégorie de meilleur chanteur en 2007 pour l’Academy of Country Music award.
Christopher Alan "Chris" Young (born June 12, 1985 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee) is an American country music artist. In 2006, he was declared the winner of the television program Nashville Star, a singing competition which aired on the USA Network. After winning, he was signed to RCA Records Nashville, releasing his self-titled debut album that year. It produced two chart singles on the Hot Country Songs charts in "Drinkin' Me Lonely" and "You're Gonna Love Me". A second album, The Man I Want to Be, was released September 1, 2009. It includes the singles "Voices", "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)", and "The Man I Want to Be"; all three have reached Number One on the country singles chart.
